I've not blogged about my girls for years. In fact it's been two to three years. My girls are now five and four and are in Kindergarten and Pre-K. It's been a whirlwind experience being a mom to two rambunctious toddlers. I love being a mom and more so I love being home with them. I feel so guilty when I miss out on the things I think as a mother I should be doing. I've never been to a PTA and I've had to plan ahead which programs or trips to participate in as opposed to doing them all. I have always worked nights and so I miss out on putting them to bed, reading them stories, reassuring them when they wake up at night because of a scary dream. The only time I get to spend time with them lately, is during the chaotic 45 minutes it takes to get them up in the morning for school, feed them breakfast and hustle them out for the 5-10 minute ride to school. I envy my husband for the time he gets to spend with them. He gets to pick them up from school, feed them dinner, help with homework, play, chat and finally get them off to bed.
Thankfully, all this is about to change! I finally got to change my work schedule and even though it means less money coming in (i'm now parttime), it affords me the time with my girls that I have been craving for. I really can't wait. I'm so excited. Can you tell?
I hope to blog more often, as I do love writing about my girls. I will have to learn to juggle my time among the many hats I wear, as a mother, a student, a blogger and parttime employee, a friend, a daughter, a sister and a soon to be ex-wife.
Until next time, take some time to stop and smell the jasmines
